I meant to critisize your title "lost cause", though I understand you anger at some unbelieveably inane queries. And again I say SMS is to hide that language shortcoming, just like the phrase "I mean like.." my students using while discussing. This shortcoming also handicaps them in understanding the FAQ etc.
I too shall try what I am suggesting next: In case I feel the question is more due to lack of command of english, I will help them in rephrasing that question, or alternately suggest a specific part of FAQ or tutorials. This what I do sometimes with my students and it occasionally works. I think Dan Henry posting link should also be at end of the FAQ. |
