#75287 - RE: Imrpoving of the wheel... Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Michael:
A) Use a low cost small pin count microcontroller to interface to the 1-wire device and then connect that device to the main microcontroller via some other more conventional type of interface. Kai: it can be very wise to use options A) or B) in certain applications! This then is not a 'reinventing of the wheel' but an 'improving of the wheel'... With the price of a LPCs being below $1 I would use a LPC over the ready made' chips. This will allow things line checksum processing, validation and record preprocessing to be included in the LPC 1-wire interface. Also many times, spending the buck to offload some time critical processing to a LPC will make the main processor run smoothly, where waitloops and long interrupt disables tend to makes strange things happen.
