I have never understood why the 'earth' (ie neutral) is connected to the plumbing when the water enters the house in a plastic pipe. In danger of going way off topic I know... I'd be pretty sure that the plumbing is connected to earth as a safety measure which ensures that safety devices trip in the event live mains coming into contact with the plumbing. For example, stainless steel sinks which may be connected via plastic fittings, have a special tag for earth connection. |
