I like the Atmels, because they are very good available at low price from many suppliers here in Germany.

Thus if one supplier temporary have problems another one can supply instantly.

Furthermore they sells also low quantities, if a new projekt must be developed.

Today I use the AT89C4051, AT89S8252, T89C51RD2 and T89C51CC01.
