Do you agree that this might have something to do with the fact that the PIC is very popular among hobbyists, who do not have to worry about any restrictions on what they can publish on the Internet? Speaking for myself, I am quite sure that my clients would not be at all pleased to find the design I made for them (and for which they payed me a substantial amount of money) on the 'net! That would be pretty bad for business.

Should we take that to mean that users of 8051 derivatives do not solve real world problems? ;o))
Again speaking for myself, I would beg to differ. Here's one I prepared earlier, which uses a SiLabs controller.
