#7704 - RE: Software design methods |
Leonardo da Vinci did a good documentation in revealing his creative mind, mostly, in graphics and text. On the other hand, many inventions we know today were done long ago by unsound heros who could not or would not document. Worst of all, many family trade secrets were gone forever because of wars, fires, or other incidents.
For a mediocre person like me, there is probably not much to document about. But don't you gurus want your artwork to be appreciated by as many people as possible? There are patent and copyright systems to protect your intelligence property. On today's Internet, you can see tons of open knowledge and free books. And those authors give them out free at their own cost, extraordinary contribution to human civilization! OOM (methodology), OOA, OOD, or OOPL is more important in providing a graphical documentation tool than efficient code. It simply uses the concept of "a picture worths a thousand words". A good OO tool should decrease the amount of time in documentation and help others in faster and better understand your design. Happy documentation! Oliver |
