#77851 - Exotic is fun - Kai Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Dear Kai,
does this make you to use more likely traditional solutions not containing exotic parts? Thanks for your consideration. You brought up a very interesting topic. In my case - mostly the prototype is the end product. - the item based on MCU forms part of a much larger equipment. Actually we spend quite a bit on sensors like flowmeters, pressure transmitters, torque sensors and the like. Compared to these the cost of control electronics is very little. - I intentionally look to fit exotic items just to get that additional edge and look. For instance where a backlit LCD will do, I use a VFD - and the difference it makes to the product appearence is immense. - If 10 ICs can be replaced by an ASIC that is also available easily - I would fall for it. So much less headache in PCB design and a compact design. So, not to worry about suggesting exotic solutions - you are most welcome.
