Just out of curiosity, what type and size of device is needed to target such a cpu? Whilst it's technically fun to do such things, I do question the economics of it and the power consumption vs a standard device. There's been a lot of chest beating by the two major fpga suppliers and many people talk about the Nios and the Xilinx equivalent and how wonderful it is, but I've yet to come across someone that has actually used it in a commercial product. For my way of thinking the Triscend concept was the most sensible although with no Triscend there's power pc cpus and arms along with some gates. |
