Each 4050 port drives only ONE SEGMENT at a time, the COMMON is driven by 4017 output via transistor. This transistor has to draw the current of max. 16 segments at a time.

O.k., I agree it is somwhat more work to put the parts together, but the parts are easily available, what is not true for the availability for special chips at every corner all over the world. At least, small elektronics shops will not have them in stock.

I was thinking Jitendra does this project for one time, not for serial production. And of course, my idea (that works continuously by me now for a few years) is only a suggestion, for the case he can't find a driver-IC....
