#81145 - RE: P89V51RD2 6 Cycle. Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Flashmagic flashes a warning saying Once this 6 clock mode is enabled It can't be reverted to 12 clock mode by ISP .... Correct. In fact I wanted to post this query and was glad to see it posted - it is a nuisance ( this warning ) and I just say NO to it and proceed. In fact I am thoroughly confused on this 6 or 12 clock stuff in this chip. ( I am using FlashMagic V2.07 and data sheet Rev02-11Oct2004 for the P89v51rd2 chip) It says 12 clock is the default mode. But my chip came with 6 clock mode ( I have done nothing to alter it anyway as I NEED 6 clock mode only ) The chip is already in 6 clock mode and when I fire FlashMagic it comes up with the 6_Clock cycle option ticked, and also issues the dire warning. I now have to answer NO for the warning, clear the 6_Clock option and then use the ISP. If all this sounds confusing - yes it is. Have not had the time to investigate this as the project deadline is near. Otherwise the ISP of the chip works fantastic and I am happy I switched to this from p89c51rd2. ( Status byte, PSEN, P2.6, P2.7 and all that damn crap are gone now ) And 3 USD cheaper. I think its fine to put up with some minor nuisance for that ;-] Raghu |
