#82222 - Not necessarily... Responding to: ???'s previous message |
it should work in industrial environment on 24 hours 365 days. There are plenty of PC-based industrial systems out there doing just that! PC board means software and hardisk crashes when power fails etc. Not necessarily. You don't have to use a hard drive - there are plenty of diskless options. Any poorly-designed embedded system can crash - whether it's PC-based or 8051-based; eg, http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=82132 - and many other similar threads! size also matters. What about the micro-ITX motherboards? Or PC/104? Or a whole PC on a DIMM: http://www.dpie.com/dimmpc/dimmpc386b.html PC native development tools are a lot cheaper than cross-development tools! |
