My favorite troubleshooting memory is with a PLCC socket connection.
A signal did not appear to be working as expected, but looking at it with a scope produced a perfect looking waveform. It took a while before I realized that sticking the scope probe between the CPU pin and socket pin caused them to be connected, and removing the probe actually broke the connection. I can laugh about it now... |
