#83746 - New website features & fixes |
I have finally got some new features and fixes into the website that I've been meaning to get to for awhile.
1. Internet Explorer should no longer lose the message you're entering when you click on a link and then click "back" to the message you were entering. This one's for you, Erik. :) 2. You may quote a name by using the (quote=Craig Steiner) tag (replace the paranthesis with brackets). This feature has actually been in the system awhile but I don't think I ever mentioned it. 3. When in threaded mode, messages with short topics are now easier to click on. 4. When in phpbb/flat mode the main forum index will include direct links to individual pages for threads that contain multiple pages. That means if a thread contains 5 pages you can go directly to the fifth page by clicking on the "5" from the main index page. 5. The time zone can now be set to UTC+13 to allow for daylight savings time in New Zealand. 6. Forum rules are now available by clicking on a link from the main forum index and also are made available on the post page. At this time no-one is forced to read them but in the future I may configure the system so that no-one can post a message until they've read the forum rules at least once and so that anyone with negative karma would have to read the rules every time they post. 7. Nightly emails will now include the subject of the thread with each message so that it's easier to figure out what thread a message belonged to. This is even more useful and necessary now that the subject of each and every message is different. 8. Nightly emails may be sent in plain-text format (the way it's always been) or you may select HTML mode which will be more visually pleasant to read. To switch to HTML mode just go to your account settings, click on "mailing list", and select the "HTML subscription". 9. Member names in message headers are now underlined to make it clear that the name is a link to their profile. If you detect any problems or have additional suggestions for future to-do lists please let me know. If you have suggestions you have already made but which I haven't been implemented feel free to suggest them here again. This thread will become my new "to-do" list so if I didn't implement your feature request and you still think it's a good idea please suggest it again and I'll consider it again next time I sit down to make modifications. Also, if someone makes a request for a feature and you agree it's a good idea please reply and express the fact that you'd like the feature too. If someone requests a feature that I don't particularly think is useful then I probably won't implement it. But if someone suggests a feature and 20 people voice their agreement then I'll tend to implement that feature even if it's not something that *I* would have thought would be useful.
