This most likely has something to do with not being logged in, but it definitely shouldn't happen so I'll take a look at what's causing it and fix it soon.

You are very right. When I tested the link in FF I was not logged in (as FF showed me). After logging in, FF also shows this thread (link 2 in previous post) as being in flat mode (same behaviour as IE).
