The Keil C51 cross-compiler converts a 'C' source code file into a relocatable object file; The Linker takes one or more relocatable object file(s) (plus, possibly, some library files), and produces an absolute object file; The Object-to-Hex converter takes an absolute object file and converts it to a Hex file. There is a diagram in the uVision Getting Started Guide that illustrates the process, and the relationships between the various tools involved. |
