I know this have been brought up several times in the past (just checked previus threads). So I am sorry to bring it up again, but I think that it is nice to hear about other peoples preferences.
What I need is a C compiler/development suite for the 8051. Price is no big problem. The demands are pretty simple:
- Compiler should generate the most compact code (size wise)
- Simulator should be extensive and good.

I have evaluated RIDE, IAR and KEIL sofar and it seems that KEIL and IAR are leading in terms of code size.
Ive been using an existing piece of code for testing and these are the results:
KEIL: 1387 Bytes
IAR: 1433
RIDE: 1607
SDCC: give me errors.

As you can see Keil is leader sofar, what experinceses do you all have with the use of any of these or other compilers. Im esp. interested in the size of generated code (and quality offcourse)

Regarding simulators, it seems that they all would suffice. I need to fool abit more around with them, esp how well they can calculate execution times
