#87255 - Hardware scroll Responding to: ???'s previous message |
In video controllers (CRT) it is (was) a common concept to set a "startpoint" - the first address in videoRAM to be displayed. This facilitates "hardware" scrolling - in one frame time you need only to update this register in the controller and the newly "appearing" column or row. However, if your controller has no such function, you are left with techniques detailed by Michael. I have seen the latter one on monitors in a local hospital here (a really old one, using a small TV CRT for display - we are not a very rich country), but I don't think the reason is better readibility; rather a simpler design I suspect. Maybe Mahmood might go to a local hospital and ask the "end user" - the doctors and nurses - for their opinion? Jan Waclawek |
