The guy wants to build a tool. That's a cool thing! He'll learn something and enrich and further himself
... and some of the longest threads we have are about "I have not made Blinky yet but I want to make a programmer". Those that make programmers go for a very qualified task (making a programmer) without verification tool (oscilloscope) and experience (I have not made blinky yet). It is not ONLY the availibility of ISP, it is the idea of making the first task a difficult one, that cause the "forget making a programmer, use ISP" posts. The whole point is that - as percieved from this forum - no experienced member has attempted to make a programmer for the last 3 years, but a whole lot of beginners have made such an attempt.
