Dear Joe,
When you said about winding toroids ( it can't get any harder in terms of winding) I was reminded of this : Period : Circa 1987 Processor: 8085 Have created a complete coding for Hex->BCD and BCD-Hex on a trainer which just had a hex kepad for hand assembling programs and a 2+4 LED seven segment display as the user interface. I did get it going with complete error checking to discard BCD values above 9999 . The kit had a audio tape backup ( no laughing please ) which worked when it was in the mood for it.
