Perhaps, but you'll also probably have richer life experiences and been able to experience more of this wonderful world. And there's always a chance that you will contribute something significantly beneficial to humanity in the course of your daily work. Most of us don't have that opportunity, of course, but people who have made huge discoveries that have benefited mankind probably didn't start their life planning on doing that. If they had done nothing, mankind would have lost out on his or her discovery.

All we can do is work hard, try to be happy, and hope that our efforts will positively effect mankind in some way. If not, hopefully we at least had an enjoyable life on this planet and did more good than harm to others.
