Friends come and friends go, but the electrical skills I learn and continue to learn have been my truest non-human friends. I say this daily and it is true.

Unlike many who frequent this site, I am not an engineer but a mechanic. I never chose to be a mechanic, it just happened, but REAL electrical skills applied as a mechanic make life so much easier, especially with an understanding of electrical noise, resets, thermal issues, etc. An understanding of embedded systems can allow you to instantly understand problems that no one else in your work environment will see or understand. Very nice.

Your personal "toolbox" of skills and abilities is increasing at a rate neither you nor your friends can see or appreciate. While you see yourself one day competing with current engineers, there are unlimited opportunities for people with electrical skills. Food on the table is the most important.

Your skills will treat you well. Appreciate and love them dearly for what they are. I've been there, I know.
