#90147 - flywheel
Responding to: ???'s previous message
A friend of my Dad, who was a senior control engineer with the old Central Electricity Generating board tells the tale from his youth of the first tests of an all-electronic fiendishly expensive state of the (then) art system for closing huge circuit breakers under automatic control when sequencing a large generator on to the line... the solenoid was the size of a big refrigerator.

The first test firing resulted in the destruction of the entire system.

All because they forgot the flywheel diode !

Still Juan's problems sound like poor supply reservoir capacitors to me. He's lucky the mosfet is still intact to generate oscillations.
