Yes, everything in the message forum--closed or open--can be searched. That's why I don't really want to completely dump the messages into a downloadable ZIP file; there'd be no easy way to include that in the search.

I figure old messages aren't really bothering anyone and it's easy to search them as-is, so I've left them. Again, the main question is whether it would be a good idea to not permit additional replies after a thread has reached a certain age.
