#92392 - Slow old SRAMs
Responding to: ???'s previous message

Oh, how often we see this. All of you, please, pretty please do not "acquire" anything where no datasheet is attached. Even if the part is cheap it is wasted money if you ca not use it because no data available.

Thomas, you can, of course, assume that the pinout is "standard SRAM" and guess/hope it match e.g. an ISSI 8k SRAM, but a wrong guess may cost you an uC.

Anyhow 128k of ISSI 15ns SRAM cost $2,47, so why muck around with unknowns.

Erik

Even if he finds the pinout, and even if the devices actually work, the real fun is going to begin when Thomas finds out that these RAMs are more than likely way too slow for his DS89C450. Unless he's running it super slow and/or willing to put in a lot of stretch cycles (which most people using a DS89C450 probably aren't), he's going to have issues.

As you said, there's just no good reason not to order a couple of brand new, 15ns SRAMs (and a good, fast latch too... ABT comes to mind). $2.47 is real bargain for peace of mind.
