Thanks for sharing the information. In such systems, generating the characters and more importantly "positioning" them calls for some good timing calculations ? Otherwise ( I guess ) there could be a drift of the characters either to the left or right - not sure if this will be the case . Was just generally wondering. And the motor itself looks like a capstan drive from a video cassette recorder - nice idea.

Gadgets like these are great inspirations - particularly when you are struggling to get the basic clock LED going on a newly assembled MCU board !
