great to see your work ,I didn't have had found your page on the web !, but my propeller display which i'm desiging is just like yours, but i decided to not to include all the controlling stuff on the propeller , so user can communicate with the MCU through push buttons.
then MCU talks with the propeller board (which includes a 16 bit LED driver chip) ,hope i can get it to work, i'm in the process of soldering the propeller board (its SMD and a bit hard to do with the Soldering iron).

i used a optocouter to detect a revolution for generating the Sync.
