Thank you for your feedback. While I was designing the video game (late 2002), the LPC series was only just released in Australia - at around US$6.50 (the 89C2051 costs just US$1.20 in low qty.). Since the aim was to try and do it 'on-the-cheap' the 89C2051 turned out to be the clear winner (I could've done with both more speed AND memory though!). I was not aware however of SILabs as a possible solution to 'extreme' apps? Thanks for this tip. I was aware of higher-speed products from cygnal, dallas, atmel(now), intel('251) and philips etc. I am not doing video, but moving LED signs and have had to resort to these to achieve the features needed Are they full-color signs, if I may ask? are they Hi-res graphic (ie: dot-matrix)?
