#96143 - Another Option
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Erik,

I see the MAX232 on my PG302 programmer. Interestingly enough iguanalabs.com sells a 40 pin adapter for their PG302 programmer and it happens to be able to handle the Atmel AT89C51RB2 that I am looking at. Another $24.00 though. Seems like a lot for a ZIF socket, some solder and a PCB.

Although by the time I bought all the parts and pieces for the RD2 described by Jan, plus shipping and put the time into it to make it I have probably spent more than that. Plus, because I didn't build the PG302, I know it works! ;-)

Probaby seems kind of funny to gripe over $24.00 when I just bought an oscilloscope. The problem today is that my wife just noticed that I bought the oscilloscope :-) So I need to operate on a shoe string for a while. I'll have to change that E-bay login!
