How are you receiving the text?
The need to use 'Capture Text' on the 'Transfer' menu - the scroll-back buffer would, indeed, be limited as you say.

What baud rate are you using, and what speed PC?
Have you enabled the UART FIFO(s) on your COM port(s)?

I have no problem at all receiving thousands of lines of text in Hypoterminal at 9600 baud on Win 98, NT, 2k, and XP.
It also receives fine at 19200 and 38400.
