I am a proponent of the KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) principle, so with only 15-minutes to think about it before I retire for the night...
All user-supplied content assumes the rights, license, warranty, whatever, that is (or will be) described on the VIS Disclaimer page (or new page for this purpose) unless the author explicitly states alternate terms (I'm not thinking thread posts here, but rather, user pages and user source code). In any case, if users require terms other than the default VIS terms, they are strongly urged to select amongst the so-called Open Source licenses certified by the Open Source Initiative (OSI) http://www.opensource.org/index.php . Just like anything else, once published under VIS terms or other user terms per the above, the terms of that content on this site can not be changed. A user is free to publish the same or modified code under different terms elsewhere, however. That's probably a load of hooey and I don't care right now, but I may care in the morning, so be kind. |
