#100331 - lifetime
Responding to: ???'s previous message
hi,

Jeroen Post said:

When using FLIP, disable Erase and Blank check,
otherwise it halves the lifetime of your Atmel devices.
(for me AT89C5131) Reading the manual, you can read the Flash cells do auto-erase before starting programming.

Not lifetime (means: retention) but number of write cycles. But whatta hell do you do with MCU and Flip that it comes to 100.000 write cycles? Even if you write device 100 times per each day it still be valid for above 2,5 years!
For me, Flash technique is good for debuging and future software updates. But I do never re-program MCU at each time program starts. So even I forget to swith those checkmars off nevertheless it has no mean 10 or 20 erase cycles have been done with Flip.

Regards,
Oleg
