#100652 - How pulsing improves performance Responding to: ???'s previous message |
High power pulsing improves performance because it increases the raw signal levels. This means that less gain is required in subsequent stages, and offset errors and interference are all attenuated by the reduction in gain. This can of course all be completely negated by increased self heating effects, but this should be mitigated by using short pulses. In addition, in many cases the self heating causes a fixed temperature rise, which you could calibrate out. |
