Around a year ago there was still quite a fuss around "loosing bootvector" (either as a result of faulty programming or maybe "flash troubles" - either way, reason was never satisfactorily confirmed) on P89C51RD2. Bill Houghton then came in and gave hints on using an external bootloader. Try searching here. I tried it on P89C51RD2H and it worked, but had no opportunity to try it no a non-H version; and as nobody posted here "bootloader lost" since then, I did not bother to write it up and publish. I can try to dig it out and send it to you - drop me an e-mail if you are interested.
Caveat, it is not much better than using a parallel programmer, as it requires an external code memory attached... Jan Waclawek |
