#129531 - 468 Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I still use a Tektronix 468. 100Mhz DSO version of the 465. I bought it second-hand for 400gbp ($800) 10 years ago (with a service manual ;) and it's never skipped a beat. DSO bit is lots of lovely TTL with a fan - it keeps my office warm (but not as warm as the old 60's valve(tube) based Tek clunkers. I'd never give up an analogue scope (which the 468 fundamentally is). Always remember the push for 'intelligent', pure digital scopes comes from the manufacturers wish to save build costs. A bussed pushbutton only front panel is heaps cheaper to build than all those pots and rotary switches and a shielded wiring loom.
I have the Velleman PCS500 too. Used a couple of times, but mainly for data-logging type applications, where the ability to store stuff to a laptop is paramount. Excellent for logging serial comms activity. Dave |
