It works: I write 00 55 AA and FF to all locations and read them back. No problem. <p>
This simple test does not really prove a lot. It basically only excludes really obvious errors (memory chip is completely dead, not powered, data lines are not connected, "dead" bits, etc). The test would not catch some of the less obvious errors - shorts between address lines and other address-line-related problems, errors that cause writes/reads to one memory location affect the contents of others. These require more complex testing procedures (walking bit tests, etc). |
