without more details on the "junk" received, the actual components and schematic and software, there is little that can be said about the problem.

it can be RF interference from other transmitters.
it can be a problem with the hardware
it can be a software issue
it can be just about anything....

You will need to narrow down the problem, by testing/verifying each component.
