#137921 - For just two devices
Responding to: ???'s previous message
I said:
If it really is too much for the PC, then how about a slave controller that just does the comms to the PC and the other slave devices?

I would do as Andy suggest whether or not "it really is too much for the PC".

The thread title says, "multiple 8052s", but the original post is actually talking specifically about just two.

For just two devices, I think all this talk of external comms processors and/or multidrop protocols is probably excessive (yes, I know I started it).

For just two devices, I would almost certainly go for FTDI's USB-to-Dual-RS232 device:

Then the PC software is just two straight-forward COM port interfaces (it then wouldn't matter whether you used the FTDI dual unit, or two single USB-to-RS232 adaptors, or two real COM ports, or any other combination!)
