Correct. when using the Vinculum chip It's actually pretty trivial to write 8051 code to write a file to a memory stick that can be read back on a PC.

I am actually using the Vinculum.

A trick when using the Vinculum: sownload the Vdrive2 schematics on the FTDI site and use them as a base.

Even simpler: buy a Vdrive2 (~$25 from Mouser).
