... complex and maybe more dangerous code (who does not make errors and mistakes?), isn't it possible to find "cheaper" solutions?

For example, isn't it possible to copy the database of messages to a different computer and run the search on that one, separately of the rest of server - whatever time it takes (and perhaps indicate to the users when that other computer feels unhappy)?

I am totally ignorant of any PC/server issues, so please feel free to laugh at this... :-)
