Well, "Read Display = Yes" seems to be in the minority on this page: http://www.noritake-itron.com/SubPages/...onlist.htm and nearly half list only "Write" under "Bus Direction"...

loves them, they are GLORIOUS, and thus most of my "LCD" is not LCD but VFD. However the similarities are so great that basically it is six of one and half a dozen of the other (the same controller is used for character VFD as for character LCD). The major difference is that you can actually read a VFD - not necessarily the data but you definitely can read the display :)
