suitability for the task, no matter how large or complex.
neither the '51 nor the ARM is pantyhose one size does NOT fit all Secondly, some of the best tools in the world are available for the ARM, with nothing really comparable for the small-micro world. so, now you suddenly like Keil ("an ARM company") why would ARM turn their tool development over to Keil (after bying them) if the Keil tools were not "comparable" ? Erik What I meant was the GNU tools, since I did make the specific reference to running in native mode. On the typical (five years ago) ARM EVB, you could run LINUX, which was, in most cases (except ATMEL, whose EVK showed their product didn't work), included with the EVK. Everybody seems to like KEIL OK, though I am not an advocate for using a multi-K-buck product for "playing" with the 805x, as I do. I would not willingly or intentionally use an MCU with positive going RESET (which, IIRC, some of the ARMs I used 5 years ago had) for serious work. That's a long-held prejudice, which I'm revisiting of late. I'm hoping I learn something of use. RE |
