#155652 - Are there any specific reasons ?? Responding to: ???'s previous message |

I believe changing over to a PCF8563 is a better option, .... I wonder why ? Apart from the fact that DS12887 needs a byte wide interface, which I agree can be very limiting in many applications. I have used both and have struggled to get the timing accurate with PCF8563. I have read lots of ideas to improve that in this forum and maybe I will do so when required. But with the DS12887 the accuracy seems to be quite good the first attempt. I am planning to use this DS12887 for a Data Logger time base. Will the clocking accuracy be compromised if I read the time once every 50ms ? As per data sheet it should not; but any practical tips on this ? Thanks Raghu |
