OK i'm convinced. i too would use DIMMs over individual rams (assumming the use of a socket for generality of RAM). The layout of the DIMM saves a lot of time; and the dollar figure is wonderful.

A few inter-dependant questions come to mind?

1) Which explicit micro (8051 variant) will you use? (this will impact the memory addressing approach i.e. 8751 vrs ds80c390).

2) Will the entire system power at 3.3vdc or just the memory interface.

3) Is the memory control signal interface "full speed" (a single vanilla "movx" to/from memory) or can it be programmatic (i.e. 16 bit row address, assert RAS, 16 bit collumn address assert CAS). Rocket telemetry and Audio Store would seem to tolerate programmatic data exchange.

4) Will the Rocket telemetry exceed 8 bits in width? Same for the Audio.

5) Are you implementing with FPGA, discreet logic; mix of PAL/GAL and discreet.
