I would like to hear from anyone who's read Dale Grovers book "Digital Signal Processing and the Microcontroller".
I read it a while ago. It's definitely one of the more entertaining books on the topic, and tries to be not too heavy on the math. I've been looking at the 8051's that Ramtron has with the DSP capability feature and would like to learn how to make a comb filter to remove 60 hz harmonics up to 2.7 KHZ. Would you actually need "DSP capability" (whatever that means, I assume that it means "has a MAC unit" and maybe some of the other fluff that speeds up digital signal processing) for this ? Comb filters definitely don't require lots of calculations - in fact, they can be implemented entirely without multiplications. Any money spent on dedicated DSP hardware would, in fact, be wasted. |

MAC is nice, but good multiply often enough | 01/01/70 00:00

Is really MAC so nice for 8bit MCU? | 01/01/70 00:00
It\'s nicer than not having one, ... | 01/01/70 00:00
Yes, need for MAC depends on processor size | 01/01/70 00:00
