Thanks for the 8155 reference, I'll see if I can locate any of those. I was hoping there would be one or several small parts available with the multiplexed address/data lines built in. A 16 pin DIP could very well hold a 256 byte RAM using this technique. I'm using the 8751 because I got a whole bunch of them (about 125 in fact) for free and they are a joy to learn and use. I've already designed a few home automation projects with them and was looking for a simple RAM expansion option. If nothing else is available, I'll probably end up with a 74LS374 latch and a 2K "eprom pinout" RAM chip like a 6116 or whatever. Any other simple/compact siggestions are welcome! |
