Here is a exerpt from the introduction page of the ADXL202 from Analog Devices.

The ADXL202 is a low-cost, low-power, complete 2-axis accelerometer with a measurement range of ±2 g. The ADXL202 can measure both dynamic acceleration (e.g., vibration) and static acceleration (e.g., gravity).


What the hell is "static acceleration" ?? If it ain't moving, it ain't accelerating.
Lo, its expeiencing a FORCE. I rest my case, and an unbelievably sloppy data sheet from AD. The ADXL202 has a seismic mass, albeit a bloody small one. They are trying to make a sales + point out of a negative one.
