#23920 - 8051 vs microchip pic
Hello, I've just found this forum and I think it's great.

Forgive me if this has been hashed out before, but I thought I'd get some other folks opinions on 8051 vs pics.

I'd used 8051 family from 92 to 98, then started with a new company and new products, and thought I'd give the pic family a try, since they were easy to obtain on a onesy-twosy basis (and my company was very cheap). Furthermore, the development systems are available for free.

Four years later, I've completed about a dozen different design projects utilizing the pic.

They've been great, however, I'm thinking I'd like to re-new my 8051 chops and develop with them again. I'd first be interested to find if any folks have any compelling reasons to do so.

Thanks,

GBB
