I don't agree with you. It is not possible to be competitive with ones designs by only using one type of processor. If needed a design with 4 ADC's (10 bit) a PWM, internal oscillator and the processor running at 1MIP and a low price and board space is a problem you HAVE to use something like an AVR or a PIC or lose the contract.

I agree with you that someone who works with only one type of processor will know that processor better, but all the information one needs to know is (usually) in the data book. So what I am saying is the person who knows the processor will get the design out a bit faster (this is assuming one is using C as the main programming language and only using assembler as a support for timing critical code).
