Fortumnately, I have not had any actual "job interviews lately", mostly I get a call by word of mouth "we know you can do what we need, can you come in for a talk".

As for "price" I use one technique that I learned long ago from the best purchasing agent I ever knew, it has worked very well for me: I place an index card upside down in front of me and say: "there are two numbers on this card, below the lower I'm out of here, above the higher we will only discuss when to start, in between we talk."
This, Invariably makes the company put out its best offer.
