#3345 - RE: Codeasaurus Rex |
My first home computer... Atari 400 based on the 6502. I'm trying to remember, I think it was 1.79Mhz? Originally bought it with 8k and a cassette recorder. Later upgraded to 16, 32 and later 96k, and eventually got an Atari floppy drive, which was only slightly better than the cassette recorder [it could save and corrupt your program in 30 seconds instead of 5 minutes]. Which was annoying because living in the desert of California it got very hot--and the machine would often lock up. We'd point 18-inch fans at the computer rather than at us!
Now, 20 years later, I'm using a 450MHZ/128MB Pentium-II and pointing a fan at the CPU no longer has any deterant effect in preventing crashes, alas, I use Windows 98. Craig Steiner |
